Anthony Bourdain v. Food Network | Jay's Rants
Originally, I was going to write about the food poisoning I've been in bed with for the last four days (except for the regular episodes of projectile vomiting). I planned to blame it on the Republicans. But, I decided that the adventures of the last four days were too gross even for the Republicans. I will say it is nice to be able to sit up for more than about three minutes at a time without feeling like <a href="http://www.couponcatch.net/ "><strong>printable coupon </strong></a> I'm going to vomit or pass out. Not having eaten for four days, however, did keep me thinking about food (at least, when I wasn't recycling it). On the subject of food, I understand that Anthony Bourdain has been saying unkind things <a href="http://www.couponcatch.net/ "><strong>discount coupons </strong></a> about Rachael Ray and Paula Dean. I have to admit that neither Rachael or Paula are doing fine cuisine. In fact, it seems like Rachael is just doing sped up versions of 1950's Betty Crocker recipes. All she needs is high heals, a gingham dress, and a little apron. (We won't discuss how that image came about.) While the criticism is certainly justified, this food does have its place. There was a TV oil painter named Bob Ross. He did very formulaic paintings that were entirely technique driven. Initially, the fine arts community hated him, considering him a schlock meister and not an "artist." However, in time, they came to appreciate him. The fine arts community came to appreciate Bob Ross because they discovered that he was bringing people into the art world that would never have entered it otherwise. He did this by making art more approachable. He <a href="http://www.couponcatch.net/ "><strong>coupon deals </strong></a> presented a technique that most anyone could do, saying, in effect, "Look, art is fun!" I suppose what Bob Ross was doing was the culinary equivalent of a ham steak with a pineapple ring and brown sugar. Most people probably never go beyond that point. But, Bob Ross still created an interest in and appreciation of art that did not exist before. I imagine that people like Rachael Ray are <a href="http://club.rexiaodg.net/view.php?id=682"><strong>Russian Market Of Leather Goods (leather ... - GANM timberland uk</strong></a> a bit like that—even their food is not fine dining, it is still a hell of a lot better than Hamburger Helper. And it will generate an interest that would not have been there otherwise. Besides, every now and then, I like a ham steak with pineapple (and strawberry jam on the side).
