Default Rays Take Over Best Record in A.L., at the Yankees

Cliff Floyd started in the major leagues when he was 20 years old, cheap Los Angeles Dodgers Hats, five years before Tampa Bay got a major league team in 1998. The region is still waiting for a winning major league team, and now that Floyd is 35, they have it.
The Rays are 23-16 after Tuesday’s 2-1 victory in 11 innings over Mariano Rivera and the Yankees. Floyd started the winning rally with a single, then took a seat as younger players scored the winning run and got the winning hit.
Floyd sat at his locker after the game, ice packs on his knees, trying to put into words what is happening here: the Rays have the best record in the American League.
“Things are just going good right now; it’s kind of hard to really talk about it,” Floyd said. “You don’t want to jinx it. We just want to keep playing ball. The sad thing is as an organization,Washington Nationals Hats, there’s been so much downside that it’s like a shock to everybody.
“Time heals everything, and these guys are getting an opportunity to play and get their feet wet and learn the game. They know what they hate the most,Cheap Rockstar Energy hats, and that’s losing. You see a hungry group of ballplayers.”
You also see a group that can pitch. With a rotation of James Shields, Scott Kazmir, Andy Sonnanstine, Matt Garza and Edwin Jackson –- backed by a deep bullpen — the Rays seem to believe they can win every game.
“The confidence level is definitely better than it used to be,” Carl Crawford said. “We’ve got five guys in our rotation that can get it done every night.”
Will it last? Who knows? A Sports Illustrated writer has been following the Rays lately, so maybe a jinx will befall them, as Floyd fears.
Will the Yankees stay below .500? I doubt it. But boy,Milwaukee Brewers Hats sale, do they need Alex Rodriguez and Jorge Posada.

Everyone is blaming the Yankees’ slump on the absences of ARod and Posada. I don’t agree. They have enough players. Why can’t they win with Damon, Abreu,Houston Astros Hats, Matsui,The Hundreds Hats Sale, Jeter, Giambi, and Cano? How much are they paying these guys? Cano is the only one paid under $14 million. The Rays don’t have ARod and Posada and they seem to know how to win.

What’s Girardi going to do to motivate this bunch of under achievers? His “stuff” happens attitude will have them 16 games behind in September. The season is a quarter gone & they have no consistancey. Worse then that they are painful to watch, boring at best. A-Rod was not tearing it up before his injury & Posada may be on the rapid decline. Things look very bleek in Yankeeland.

While I enjoy the Yankees being under 500, I think I enjoy the despair of the front running Yankee fans more. It is great to hear them defame the manager and all of the old, slow, overpaid ball players. It is great to see the Rays and Marlins with their tiny payrolls beating up the financial giants. I think the Gods of Baseball are responsible. They are getting even with the Yankees for their shabby treatment of Torre and for the huge salaries they pay to mediocre ball players. After all, the Gods of Baseball never made this kind of money and had to work at jobs in the off season. They are naturally a little resentful. If Hank Steinbrenner is a chip off the block, you can expect an exciting but dismal future for the Yankees.
