MIFF: Client 9 - The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer ★★★★★ All too believable - bloody Republicans #miff Website: client9themovie.com Director: Alex Gibney Lead: Eliot Spitzer Co-Star: Michael Schwendeman Genre: Documentary Runtime: 117mins Rating: NR Stars: ★★★★★ One of the most powerful things about Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer is that I don't find any of the claims made in the film at all shocking. Indeed they are all completely believable. Sure this is ia propaganda piece for Eliot Spitzer and it will be shown from his point of view in large part (despite all the embarrassing details on his use of prostitutes) and perhaps it is that is lends itself to my politics - but the Republicans ブーツレッドウィング abuse of their power to revenge Spitzer's war on Wall Street is all to clear after watching this film. This makes the film actually a very depressing one. That someone who was doing his best to fix many of ills of the financial system in the US was brought down by what was essentially a person flaw - is a crime in and of itself - but when this film explains the roles that Republican's appear to have had in bringing about this downfall there is a real conspiracy. This documentary was made by the レッドウィング3180 same director as Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room - Alex Gibney. He tells a familiar story for him. There is something seriously wrong in the US. Here we get a feel for Spitzer. He was clearly not a very nice guy. He was single minded and just did not understand the slowness of the political system. As Attorney General he was brilliant and he efficiently prosecuted cases that the FBI could not (or did not want to). But when he became Governor he was impatient and was thwarted by a system of finance which already hated him after he had prosecuted high profile cases of white collar crime. Then there was his private failing. If he wasn't Attorney General the fact that he used prostitutes would not have been a big issue. But the top lawyer for NY breaking his own laws is not a good look. Indeed the laws which he was investigated under have never actually been used against clients of prostitutes but for some reason the Republican White House and FBI officers used wire taps in order レッドウィング3168 to gather evidence on Client 9 and then released these to the media for them to work out who Client 9 was. The evidence released to the media including only lines on each of Client 1-8 and then five pages on Client 9. Its not at all surprising that Spitzer's career was over. A number of people are put in the frame for this conspiracy including former AIG boss Hank Greenberg who was forced to resign after a Spitzer investigation Ed Hardy Hoody at the Ed Hardy Shop | Replica Ray Ban Sunglasses ... (and who has the hide now to claim the huge loses at AIG would never have occurred had he still been there); New York Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno who has subsequently been to prison on corruption charges and the near evil political hit man Roger Stone. All of these men were linked in the weeks leading up to Spitzer's resignation. Clearly Client 9 is partly an attempt by Spitzer to rebuild his image and it is good that he is attempting to be honest about his own flaws and hubris - and while I loved it because it fits with my view of American politics more broadly - it won't be the kind of film for everyone. imdb.com
