Low-price electronics retailer Kogan Technologies claims to own the very first sub-$400 10in netbook in Australia. Originally marketing for $499, the Kogan Netbook is now priced at $399.

Specifications include a 1.6GHz Atom N270 CPU,Office 2010 Product Key, 1G of RAM, a 160G challenging push,Windows 7 64 Bit, a 1024 x 600 screen, 802.11b/g wireless, as well as a three-cell lithium ion battery.

The Pro model has similarly been lowered in price from $539 to $439. It contains 2G of RAM, a USB Bluetooth dongle, as well as a six-cell battery.

That six-cell battery will also be acquired separately for $64.

"We have established ourselves as a leader in this market and our buying power is increasing every day," said company founder Ruslan Kogan.

"Through our direct business model we can cut out the middle men and pass on these savings to our customers," he added.

The Kogan Netbook ships with the gOS operating system. "We are huge believers in cloud computing and open source software. The reasons are simple,Windows 7, open source software is usually faster,Microsoft Office 2007, better and has more features,Windows 7 Key," said Kogan.
