GREENWICH, Conn. - Danny Balin had a week to remember. The Greenwich assistant golf pro from Burning Tree Country Club helped Team USA run away with the 25th Annual PGA Cup. He also discount nike made the Top 10 plays on "SportsCenter" with a hole-in-one and then came back home to win some more hardware. Balin, the featured instructor in Main Street Connect's "Golf Tip of the Week," hopped a red-eye flight immediately following the PGA Cup champions dinner in California to arrive just in time to play in the Lincoln Metropolitan PGA Championship in Harrison, N.Y. If Balin was exhausted, it did not show in his play. The 29-year-old came from behind to edge Connecticut Open champ Frank Bensel with a 2-under (208). Balin nearly ran away with the title after posting a 3-under on the front nine on the second day of play. He came back to Earth on the back nine, however, and Bensel made a run. In the final round, Balin sank an cheap brand shoes eagle on the par 4 eighth hole. He played evenly for the rest of the day, outpacing Bensel, who was 3-over on the final nine. Follow Eric Gendron on Twitter for the latest MSC-Fairfield County sports coverage.
